Cationic dyed polyester and bright polyester are textured polyester variants known for being lustrous and are used for similar applications. Since their advent, both have been widely used in sarees as an alternative to silk.

Cationic-dyed and bright yarns are known for their luster and their bold, brilliant colors — especially cationic-dyed polyester.
Both are typically produced with a trilobal filament cross sectional area. The addition of DSIPM to the melt in the case of CDP renders it dyeable by cationic dyes, regarded for their brilliancy.

Summary of the main features of full-dull polyester yarns
Brilliant colors
Cationic dyed polyester yarns have some of the most brilliant and saturated colors of any synthetic yarns.
Lustrous
Both yarns have a shimmery, lustrous appearance. Cationic-dyed polyester is available in a semi-dull form as well.
FDY form available
Bright polyester is available in textured as well as in fully-drawn form for even more luster.
OEKO-Tex Class 1
Our semi-dull yarns are certified by OEKO-Tex under class 1, the most stringent set of standards within the system.
Cationic-dyed polyester is used primarily in the weaving of sarees as a replacement to silk, when a bright and lustrous look is required. It is used primarily in the weft as a zero yarn, and to some extent in the warp, when twisted
Bright polyester is also primarily used in the weaving of sarees and is a more afforable version of CDP. Like CDP, it is used as a zero yarn in the weft, and to some extent as a twisted yarn in the warp.
