Elastane covered yarns

Elastane covered yarns are elastane yarns covered with another yarn, forming a core-sheath structure. This is done either via a mechanical process or with the help of air jets. We offer both variants, covered with either textured polyester or nylon.

Stretchy, durable and comfortable

Elastane can stretch upto 500% and recover back to its original size. This stretchibility makes it useful for making garments that are flexible, comfortable and can withstand repeated stretching.

Covered yarns are available in both air covered and mechanical covered forms, with air covered yarns providing less cover while being more inexpensive.

Key Attributes

Summary of the main features of full-dull polyester yarns

Abrasion resistance

Elastane is easily degraded by abrasion as well as by chemicals. Covering it with a polyester or nylon sheath protects the elastane core.

High stretchibility

Elastane covered yarns have exceptional elasticity, which is why they are frequently used in sportswear and socks.

Yarn-like properties

Covering elastane with textured nylon or polyester gives it the look and tactile characteristics of a conventional textile yarn

OEKO-Tex Class 1

Our sewing threads are certified by OEKO-Tex under class 1, the most stringent set of standards within the system.

Product end-uses

In sportswear, where repeated stretching is expected, and flexibility is required to allow for free movement of the body.

Covered yarns are used in the manufacturing of socks, where they are used to add stretchability to the socks
